Learn about growing roses on the peninsula

WSU Clallam County Master Gardener Elaine Webber will provide tips for growing roses on the Olympic Peninsula at noon on Thursday, May 24, 2018, in the county commissioners’ meeting room at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

In this Green Thumb presentation, Webber will describe rose classifications, discuss proper location for rose plants and provide research-based tips on planting, pruning and seasonal care of roses. She will also explain how to control pests and diseases that roses are most vulnerable to experiencing particularly in the local maritime climate.

A Master Gardener since 2016, Webber has degrees in botany and general science and holds an advanced degree in biology. She has been growing roses since 1993 and still has one of her original plants that has been uprooted and transplanted in five gardens.

The presentation is sponsored by the Clallam County Master Gardeners. For questions, call 565-2679.
