The Clallam County Waste Prevention Program and Clallam County Washington State University Extension host a five-class series to teach local citizens to be Master Composter+Recyclers.

This free training delves into waste and recycling issues, looks at international and local systems, and investigates how individuals and communities can prevent and rethink waste.

All classes are held in the Carver Room at the Port Angeles Library from 6-8 p.m. except for a field trip to the Regional Transfer Station on May 16. Class dates and topics include:

• May 1, “Introduction to the history and systems of waste & recycling”

• May 8, “Composting &; Food Waste Prevention”

• May 16, field trip to Regional Transfer Station (3:30-5 p.m.)

• May 22 — “Recycling Right: Clean, Empty, Dry!”

• May 29 — “Waste Prevention: Reduce, Repurpose, Refuse, & Rethink”

In exchange for this free program, participants are asked to volunteer 10 hours on waste prevention activities and events inspiring and educating the community at large.
