The Sequim Library’s Summertime Music! Outdoor Concert Series brings music groups to Sequim for a trio of free Friday night concerts this month.

Concerts are set for 6 p.m. at the library’s outdoor stage at 630 N. Sequim Ave. In the event of rain or inclement weather, concerts will be held inside the library.

The 2018 lineup

Kicking things off are Farmstrong on Aug. 17. Jim Faddis, Cort Armstrong, Rick Meade and John Pyles collaborate in an acoustic quartet that puts singing at the forefront of their sound. Farmstrong taps deep into the roots of country and bluegrass genres, as it reaches beyond to American roots-based music from folk and rock, to Motown and blues.

Blending instrumental arrangements featuring the Caribbean steel pans and vocals, Caribe Steel Band on Aug. 24 offers sounds of the Caribbean: reggae, calypso, soca, samba and even your favorite pop tunes, all with an island twist!

Rounding out the series on Aug. 31 is Fat Chance, who looks to get the audience on its collective feet with rock ’n’ roll classics and originals. The band consists of John Christensen on bass and vocals, Jeff Joaquin on guitar, Max Fernades on guitar and mandolin and Joel Nilsen on drums. Fat Chance has been playing across the Olympic Peninsula for more than 35 years.
