The Peninsula Men’s Gospel Singers have invited women to join their ranks for this season’s annual Christmas concerts.

PMGS director Michael Rivers has been asked for years when he was going to form a Peninsula Women’s Gospel Choir, and that group joins the men’s singers for two upcoming concerts: 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at Sequim Seventh-day Adventist Church, 30 Sanford Lane, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at Independent Bible Church, 116 E. Ahlvers Road, Port Angeles.

Admission is free and all are welcome.

The groups are slated to perform three numbers together: “Mary Did You Know?”, “Jesus, What a Wonderful Child” and “O Holy Night.” In addition to those numbers, the concert includes favorite carols such as “Joy to the World,” “Come Thou Long Expected Jesus” and a four hands piano piece, “Ding Dong Merrily on High.”

“Silent Night” will be offered as an audience sing along song.

Joining Penny Hall, the group’s regular accompanist, is local concert pianist Anna Nichols.

They will also be featured in an upbeat, instrumental four hands arrangement of “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring.” Karen Coles will provide signing for the deaf and hearing impaired.

The Peninsula Men’s Gospel Singers organization is a 501(c)3 non-profit that represents more than eight churches and denominations from around Clallam County. The group performs in churches, rest homes and retirement centers, performance halls and at Clallam Bay prison.

Their mission statement proclaims their purpose is “to bring the good news of Jesus and His love through songs and personal stories.”
