Milestone: City of Sequim presents Molin with Westcott Award

The City of Sequim recently presented the fifth-annual “Westcott Award” to Susan Molin for her volunteer service as a concierge for the City and her support of the City Arts Advisory Commission at the City Volunteer Appreciation Dinner on Nov. 7.

Molin began volunteering with the city in January 2016 as a concierge helping visitors at the Sequim Civic Center. After learning about her experience in helping the Sequim Farmers Market schedule music and obtaining sponsorships, city clerk Karen Kuznek-Reese asked her if she would like to be involved with the arts advisory commission. Molin took on the role of scheduling artists to make presentations for the “Art Talk on the Art Walk” quarterly rotating art exhibit opening receptions.

“Susan took the ball and ran with it,” Kuznek-Reese said. “She has done a fabulous job of finding artisans to make presentations. These sessions have become very popular.”

Molin has also been instrumental in helping to schedule and work with musicians for the summer Music in the Park concert series and Annual Block Party and in securing sponsors for the events, city officials say.

The Westcott Award was named for Emily Westcott in recognition of her tireless commitment to volunteer service within the community. Westcott received the first award in 2014.
