Each school month, the Elks honor a sophomore student selected by high school staff who exhibits top scholastic skills, involvement in extracurricular activities and community service.

Olson has a 4.0 grade-point-average in her academic courses that include honors literature, advanced placement biology, Spanish II, college-level pre-calculus and chemistry, and leadership.

Her interests include music, art, language and environmental science. She has been involved in science fairs, summer science programs and is currently working on a two year study of eel grass in the waters of Juan de Fuca. She also is involved in cross country and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) groups.

Olson, who plans to attend a four-year college to study environmental science, is the daughter of Jodi and Taylor Olson.
