Milestone: Local REALTORS® visit legislators in Olympia

Members of the Jefferson County, Port Angeles and Sequim Association of Realtors joined with hundreds of other Realtors from across the state to meet with their state legislators in Olympia on Jan. 24.

The Clallam and Jefferson County members were there to discuss a variety of topics including the lack of affordable housing and its impact to the residents of the two counties.

The Washington Realtors and a coalition comprised of nonprofits and for profits are working to “Unlock the Door for Affordable Homeownership.” Together, they said, “we’re working with our elected officials on legislation to solve the growing housing affordability crisis in our communities by addressing condo liability reform, buildable lands inventory, increasing housing supply inside urban growth areas and more.”

Each of these issues is complicated in itself, they said, but “as a whole add up to increasing affordable housing, of all kinds, in all areas designed for growth throughout the state.”

Sequim Association of Realtors is a member of the Washington Realtors and the National Association of Realtors with more than 225 local Realtor and Affiliate Members.
