Milestone: OMC Foundation dedicates $34K to cancer center, children’s clinic

The Olympic Medical Center Foundation presented more than $34,690 to Olympic Medical Center at a hospital board commission meeting on Sept. 19, which includes funds for the expansion of the OMC Cancer Center and the OMC Children’s Clinic.

More than $28,000 of the foundation gift will go to the Sequim cancer center while almost $6,700 will be used to purchase a spot vision screener for the children’s clinic that helps diagnose early vision problems.

To date, the foundation has given more than $1.4 million to or on behalf of OMC in the last 21 months, including $802,000 towards the cancer center expansion.

OMC Executive Director Bruce Skinner said that, counting pledges from donors, the foundation has raised more than $1,000,000 towards the expansion.

The foundation is looking to generate additional money for the purchase of cancer center equipment.

“It is imperative that we expand the space to treat cancer,” Skinner said. “As we near the completion of our capital campaign, we are pleased that we have been able to take advantage of several generous gifts so that we will have the capabilities to treat this dreadful disease locally.”

Those interested in more information or in making a donation can call the OMC Foundation office at 360-417-7144, or Skinner at bruce@omhf.org.

“We hope that many local people will become a part of this fundraising effort,” Skinner said.

“It’s an opportunity for people to leave a lasting legacy, and 100 percent of the monies raised will go towards the project. There are also naming rights opportunities,” he said.
