The Olympic Medical Center Foundation presented $45,000 to OMC at its board of commissioners’ meeting on Dec. 19, to purchase equipment for the new addition to the OMC Cancer Center in Sequim ($25,000) and to further nursing education at Peninsula College ($20,000).

The foundation completed a record year of giving in 2018 — with $892,496 going to or on behalf of OMC to improve healthcare in the community.

Of that total, more than $463,000 went towards the expansion of the cancer center.

“Counting pledges from donors, we have now raised over $1.1 million in the last two years towards the expansion,” OMC Foundation Board member Karen Rogers said.

The foundation also recognized two groups who have contributed to the Sequim Cancer Care expansion for several years: the Mad Hatter’s Tea and Sunland Drive for the Cure.

The foundation continues to generate additional money for the purchase of cancer center equipment.

“We hope that many local people will become a part of this fundraising effort,” Skinner said.

“It’s an opportunity for people to leave a lasting legacy, and 100 percent of the monies raised will go towards the project,” he said. “There are also naming rights opportunities.”
