Milestone: OPAA picks Wiggins for annual scholarship

The Olympic Peninsula Art Association recently announced Amanda Wiggins is the club’s recipient of the 2019 Student Scholarship recipient.

A Sequim High senior, Wiggins said she hopes to become a professional pastry chef and plans on attending Seattle Central Community College’s culinary arts program in the fall.

Pictured here with Sequim High art teacher Jaye Hall and two artworks from her portfolio, Wiggings said, “I would love to take my creativity into the world of food and come up with ideas for decorations and arrangements of my dishes.”

This year’s $1,000 scholarship was given in the name of Bobby Kastner, a lifetime member of OPAA (Sequim Arts) and devoted most of her free time to the organization and her art.

The annual scholarship is open to all Clallam County High School Seniors. Students interested in applying should go to the OPAA website at www.sequimarts.org for more information.
