Milestone: Rotary Club of Sequim honors SHS students

The Rotary Club of Sequim recently named Sequim High School students Angela Carrillo-Burge, Heidi O’Leary and Emily Bundy their Students of the Month.

Rotary members identify a student each month that exemplifies good citizenship. They each have good grades, participate in extra-curricular activities and contribute to our community.

Carrillo-Burge, a senior, has been very involved with student government holding the office of treasurer for her Junior Class and senator for her Senior Class. She is a golfer and a swimmer. She also participated in the Senior Class Play.

A junior, O’Leary is an intern at the Boys & Girls Club and Youth of the Year Candidate. She attended a Seattle Seahawks game at Century Link Field and received on behalf of the Boys & Girls Club a $10,000 grant for the purchase of additional computers and software for the computer room at the club.

Bundy, a junior, is a straight-A student worked with the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office to bring the Grim Reaper exhibit to Sequim High. She is involved in biomedical science classes which have an emphasis in career and technical training. She was in the Senior Play and is publicity chair for the class of 2019 and treasurer for the Executive Leadership Team.

Each student was personally presented with a letter from the Rotary club to use in their scholarship notebooks indicating the student’s exemplary qualities along with a Certificate of Recognition for display. They then had the opportunity to introduce themselves, their parents and guests and talk about their Sequim High School experience, current activities and future goals.
