Milestone: Sequim Lions, church build wheelchair ramp for Sequim residents

Sequim Valley Lions Club recently partnered with Faith Lutheran Church to donate a free wheelchair ramp to Walter and Leslie Mantz (pictured), so the longtime Sequim residents can more easily enter and exit their home.

This wheelchair ramp is 30 feet long and costs hundreds of dollars in building material. Faith Lutheran Church donated the majority of the funds and the Sequim Valley Lions Club paid the remainder. In addition, Lions club members donated all the labor needed to construct the wheelchair ramp.

A spokesman for the Sequim Valley Lions Club said, “This wheelchair ramp is a good example of the things we do to serve our community. Our club has been around for more than 60 years but our membership numbers are down; we need to grow our club so we can do even more for the residents of the Sequim Valley. We encourage the community to support our efforts.”

The Sequim Lions Club is seeking new members. The club meets at 6:30 p.m. the second and fourth Thursdays of each month at the Paradise Restaurant, 703. N. Sequim Ave. Find the club on Facebook or call 477-4552 for more information.
