Milestone: SMS Builders Club raises funds for Humane Society

The Sequim-Dungeness Kiwanis Club presented a donation check of $594 to the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society on behalf of the Sequim Middle School Builders Club.

The Builders Club, a volunteer student community service club sponsored by Kiwanis, saw members raise funds by selling metal beverage bottles the past two years.

Making the presentation on behalf of the Builders Club is Wayne Boden, president of the Sequim-Dungeness Kiwanis Club, to Luanne Hinkle, Executive Director of the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society.

For more than 70 years, the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society has maintained an active presence in Sequim and Port Angeles, sheltering and caring for domestic animals of all types regardless of breed, health or disposition.

A private nonprofit, the society is financed primarily by private donations and gifts and is not associated with any national organization. About 1,500 animals pass through the doors of the facility each year.
