Maggie Van Dyken, a 3.9 grade-point average sophomore at Sequim High School, recently was named Student of the Month by Sequim Elks Lodge No. 2642 at its April Social Night Dinner.

Van Dyken was selected for her high academic achievements and student involvement at Sequim High.

Her current class schedule includes Algebra II, Health, Select Choir, Spanish II, Chemistry and Literature. She is also involved in Leadership Class, Honors Society and International Club.

Her other hobbies and interest include reading, basketball and running.

Her future plans are to attend college and major in criminal justice.

She is daughter of Scott and Lisa Van Dyken of Sequim.
