Russell and Joyce Wilson will celebrate their 50th anniversary on June 3.

Russ graduated from Port Angeles High School in 1963. After serving three years in the Army, he returned home from Germany in the summer of 1966, right on time to meet Joyce Ion whose parents had moved to Port Angeles to pastor the Free Methodist Church. Russ and Joyce met at a birthday party and married less than a year later, on June 3, 1967.

Russ is retired after working for 43 years at the mill known as Crown Zellerbach, changed to James River, changed to Daishowa, and then changed to Nippon.

They have two children, Gary Wilson and Vicki (Edward) Ireland and three grandchildren, Brennan, Ephrem and Zebadiah.
