NW Women’s Chorale sets ‘Shining Night’ concerts

The Northwest Women’s Chorale presents its popular winter concert “Shining Night” in two locations and two times.

The first concert is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, at Dungeness Valley Lutheran Church, 925 N. Sequim Ave. with a second scheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 9, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 E. Lopez Ave., Port Angeles.

Admission is a suggested donation is $15.

The chorale’s featured piece is Antonio Vivaldi’s “Gloria” accompanied by chamber musicians along with collaborative pianist Kristin Quigley Brye.

Also on the program are winter works from various countries, such as a Russian piece by Rachmaninoff, a traditional Puerto Rican carol and “Pavane for a Silent Night” by French composer Ravel, along with “Sure on this Shining Night” by Morten Lauridsen.

Northwest Women’s Chorale, celebrating its 13th year on the Olympic Peninsula, consists of 23 singers directed by Joy Lingerfelt.

“I always try to bring a range of music for our audience to enjoy and I think this winter’s concert will be especially enjoyable,” she said.

Each concert includes a variety of music styles that welcomes in the holiday season.
