The family homestead was obtained by a grant signed by President McKinley, receiving a section of land which ran from about Keeler Road to Rhodefer Road, east and west and from West Sequim Bay Road to the base of Bell Hill.

Pearl Rhodefer married Bert Simdars in February of 1910 and purchased the family farm. Bert passed away in 1926 leaving Pearl to raise 4 children during the Great Depression and run a farm. EdnaÕs siblings were sister: Margaret (Cameron), Helen (Boggs), and brother Albert.

Edna attended Sequim schools and graduated high school in 1934. She was the oldest surviving graduate of Sequim High School, to the best of the familyÕs knowledge.

The family spent a great deal of time visiting Sequim to see relatives. RedÕs mom, Josie Pierce resided in Blyn and EdnaÕs mom, Pearl Simdars lived in downtown Sequim on Spruce St. ÒRedÓ and Edna enjoyed 61 years of marriage before Red passed away in April of 2000.
