Open auditions set for OTA’s mystery dinner theatre production

Auditions for Olympic Theatre Arts’ first “whodunnit” dinner theatre fundraiser, called “Vintage Murder,” are set for 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, and 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9.

The fundraiser shows take place Friday, Oct. 25, and Saturday, Oct. 26.

Director Roz Scott is looking for a cast who loves to improvise, is full of energy and enthusiasm, gregarious and humorous.

The “Vintage Murder” is set around the last wine auction the Tortellini Brothers Winery will ever hold. A historic winery known for rare but excellent Cabernet wines is being sold following the death of owner Georgio Tortellini — and six people “would literally kill to get their hands on it.”

Production organizers are looking for three men and three women of different ages ranging from 20-60 for the main characters:

• Carmine Blanca — Georgio’s driver and executor of the will; gangster looking, a stupid and rather goofy thug

• Olive Tortellini — Georgio’s eldest daughter and self-proclaimed surrogate mother to her younger sister Toni

• Toni “Antoinette” Tortellini — The very chic younger sister to Olive who’s self absorbed, cold, mean and calculating

• Jessie Jones — A local law officer who loves her job and was recently rejected by the FBI

• Joe Bob Biggs — a morally bankrupt land developer, a lying male chauvinist pig who plays a charming southern boy very well

• Nigel Tuesday — A nerdy, lily-livered mama’s boy

OTA is also looking for five to seven men and women as supporting characters for the “primary suspects”:

• Angel “The Eggplant” Serra — Carmine’s tough guy crony

• Dr. Jacobi— Olives “new age” shrink

• Barney Schneckel — Jessie’s new, enthusiastic trainee

• Brenda Schneckel — a female version of Barney

• Zach Henry — the winery’s sexy gardener and Toni’s “boy toy”

• Nannie — Nigel’s nurse and substitute mother

OTA is also seeking creative people to fill out the production team. Those interested in helping out behind the scenes are asked to inquire.
