OTA hosts Children’s Theatre Workshop, ‘wizarding’ classes

Aspiring young actors and actresses and stagehands are encouraged to join together at Olympic Theatre Arts for a one-week intensive workshop where wizarding school students will be in on the beginning stages of developing an interactive theatrical tour at OTA.

The workshop is set for 9 a.m.-3 p.m. daily, April 2-6.

Not only will they explore potential characters and scenes to use to create the event, organizers say, but they will also “unlock the magic” of costuming, props and sets to support acting roles.

At the end of the week, the students will showcase their discoveries with a performance highlighting their magical journey.

Workshop fee is $175 ($150 for OTA family members); lunch is included in the workshop.

A wizarding class session follows the workshop, advancing the process of performance production with auditioning and casting for acting roles and continued production-team wizardry.

Classes are 3:30-5:30 p.m.on Wednesdays, April 11-May 27, and includes a march in the Sequim Irrigation Festival Parade on May 12 and two special performances, the “School of Wizardry” that is open to the public, on May 26 and 27.

Class session tuition is $120 ($100 for OTA family members).

Registration forms are available online at www.olympictheatrearts.org. Tuition assistance is available.

Space is limited; early registration is recommended.
