Outstanding Orca, Special Olympics in spotlight

UPDATE: The final Studium Generale of the year set for 12:35 p.m. Thursday, June 14, has been canceled.

The event invited the community to celebrate the success of the Clallam County Orcas golf team — including Peninsula College student David Carver and Bill Shea, Director of Golf at The Cedars at Dungeness —at the Peninsula College Little Theater, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.

Program officials say the program will be rescheduled for winter quarter 2018-2019.

The focus of the presentation is Carver’s journey from helping start a Clallam County Special Olympics Team to becoming a state gold medalist and an inspiration to teammates. Shea notes that Carver “had no knowledge or playing experience” but became a talented player, a coach’s assistant and now an employee at the Sequim golf course.
