Second Adult Pinewood Derby fundraiser set for March 16

As a “FUNraiser,” the Mount Olympus district of the Boy Scouts of America through the Friends of Scouting campaign invites community members to take part in the second-annual Adult Pinewood Derby, Saturday, March 16, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave.

Open to anyone 18 years or older, the competition includes classic, outlaw and best in show categories. Registration is $30 for classic cars and $50 for outlaw cars.

Cars, rules and registration forms are available at the dental office of Dr. Scott Brooksby, 680 W. Washington St. E-102, in the Safeway shopping center.

On race day, weigh in is at 10 a.m. and races start at 11 a.m. Food will be available for purchase; also, the Friends of Scouting will be holding a silent auction.

The event raises money for the Mount Olympus district of the Boy Scouts of America, which covers Clallam and Jefferson counties. Funds raised helps local scouting programs, such as insurance for the scouts on their camp-outs and helping to maintain BSA-owned summer camps, scout officials say.
