Seminar series targets writers seeking book publication

Olympic Peninsula Authors is beginning a two-part, free seminar series for writers looking to publish books.

The first is scheduled for 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, in the Carver Room at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St., and features a presentation by Trifecta Publishing House. Trifecta is a small publisher and member of the Independent Book Publishing Association.

The presenter is Lori Lyn, director of marketing and acquisitions editor for Trifecta. She is one of the publishing house founders and an award-winning author herself. She will speak about the publishing side of the business, including the key components that a writer needs to consider; the definition of branding; a realistic time frame from draft to ebook and print, and what costs to expect. There will be time for questions and discussion.

Copies of books published by Trifecta will be available for purchase following the presentation. Trifecta is currently open for submissions in all genre of fiction. For submission guidelines, see trifectapublishinghouse.com.

The second seminar in the series is from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, at the Sequim Library (630 N. Sequim Ave.), and features self-publishing how-to’s and how-not’s.
