Sequim City Band sets summer schedule

The Sequim City Band last week announced its summer concert series “Concerts at The James,” the band’s 27th season of free public summer concerts.

The summer season includes monthly concerts, all set at The James Center for the Performing Arts, 350 N. Blake Ave. A highlight of the summer concerts is the band’s patriotic Fourth of July Concert. An evening concert in August will feature music from the stage and screen.

The schedule includes the following dates and times:

• Sunday, May 6, 3 p.m.

• Sunday, June 3, 3 p.m.

• Wednesday, July 4, 3 p.m.

• Saturday, Aug. 4, 7 p.m.

• Sunday, Sept. 9, 3 p.m.

In addition to the “Concerts at The James” series, the band performs a winter concert series, with performances in Sequim and Port Angeles. These concerts focus on the extensive symphonic band repertoire, from classical to modern compositions.

The Sequim City Band is an all-volunteer group of musicians that strives to promote the wide-range of concert band music for the community’s enjoyment. Musicians hail from Clallam, Jefferson and Kitsap counties.
