Sequim Library sets Second Saturday Science events

Two more Second Saturday Science sessions are coming to the Sequim Library in October and November.

Second Saturday Science creates fun, hands-on opportunities for children ages 7-12 to explore concepts related to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) subjects.

All materials are provided.

The Sequim Library is at 630 N. Sequim Ave.

• Saturday, Oct. 12 — “Marine Mammals and Me “

Dive into Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary and learn about amazing marine mammals that call it home. Learn all about animals from sea otters to humpback whales through a combination of presentations, games and hands-on activities.

Saturday, Nov. 9 — “Forest Animals”

Explore forest animals at these interactive stations:

• Match the real life fur, claws, and horns to the animal

• Make & fly birds in a wind tunnel

• Guess the animal scenario from the real life clues

• See how salmon swim with a stream table

• Create rain and watersheds with an AR Sandbox

• Make animal tracks

• Search and find the camouflaged animals

• Decorate a tree round pendant to take home.
