Sequim Museum & Arts sets ‘Boys in the Boat’ event

Judy Rantz Willman, her sister Jennarose Rantz Murdaugh and Judy Reandeau Stipe recently toured the new Sequim Museum & Arts building at 544 N. Sequim Ave. The daughters of Joe Rantz — the Olympic Games gold medal-winning member of the 1936 University of Washington crew team — were visiting different sites in Sequim.

Willman, a trustee on the Olympic Peninsula Rowing Association Board of Directors, took time to look at the George Pocock rowing shell that the club gifted to the Sequim museum in 2015.

Willman will be back to give a presentation about her father and the best-selling book, “The Boys in the Boat,” at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 31, at the Dungeness Schoolhouse, 2781 Towne Road. The public is invited to both the meeting and talk. Donations will be accepted for the new museum’s construction costs.

The museum is slated to open July 6, Reandeau Stipe said, with more details about ceremonies to be announced at a later date.
