GREYWOLF ELMENTARY SCHOOL

First-graders are working on detailed sentences and using transition words. My class wrote about their most favorite day ever.

My favorite day was sunny. First I had a daddy date and I got hot cocoa and I got candy. Next I worked in my mom’s shop. Then I went to the ice cream shop. — Ava Swartz

My favorite day was a Christmas. My grandpa came to visit. I never get to see my grandpa. — Fionna Owens

My favorite day was my birthday. First, BB-8 pinata was hit. Then we had cake. Last I opened presents. — Nathan Nelson

My favorite day was at Great Wolf Lodge. First I got in my room. Next it was time for bedtime so I went down to storytime. Last I went to bed. I woke up and went in the pool. Great Wolf Lodge is the best! — Ellie McHenry

The Snowy Day: My favorite day was on the day I went in a sled. First my dad went in the car and drove on the road. Then I said Wee! I am so cold but I love it. Finally we went inside. I love snow days! YAY! — Emme Henrickson

HELEN HALLER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Students in Rachel Oden’s third grade class are learning about the human body and the different body systems. After reading and writing about each system students created detailed, life-size body system replicas. Students had to refer to their CKLA informative text readers and anchor charts to ensure their models were accurate. Way to use your brain, Future Scientists!

Mark you calendars: Helen Haller Elementary’s Fifth Grade concert is set for 7-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at the Sequim High School auditorium, 533 N. Sequim Ave.

SEQUIM MIDDLE SCHOOL

To help give the Sequim Middle School students a warm winter, the Sequim Options School is hosting a winter clothing drive. You can help by donating new or lightly used jackets, hoodies, vests, gloves, hats, mittens, scarves and winter boots in children and adult sizes to the cause until Dec. 7. We are also accepting cash donations to purchase additional items not collected in the clothing drive. For more information, please contact Michelle Mahitka at mmahitka@sequimschools.org.

SEQUIM HIGH SCHOOL

The All School Play this year is “A Christmas Carol,” and will be performed at 7 p.m. Dec. 7-8 and Dec. 14-15 in the high school auditorium.

The Sequim High School Culinary Arts classes recetnly baked 100 pumpkin pies for Team McAleer at REMAX Prime. The pies are given out as appreciation to Team McAleer clients. Only a few of the students had ever made a pie before this activity and all were pleasantly surprised with the final product. All ingredients were bought from local businesses.

Dr. Art Moyer provided cooking tips and support for the project.

“The students used proper sanitation and safety procedures in preparing their pies and I am extremely proud of their best effort with so much on the line,” culinary arts instructor Dana Minard said. “Our kitchens are just like you have at home, nothing commercial about them at all, so 100 pies in that amount of time with what we have was amazing.”

Team McAleer paid for the ingredients, made a donation to the Culinary Arts program and is donating another $10 to the Sequim Food Bank for every pie given.
