Set aside July 16-18 weekend for 14th annual Lavender Festival

The 14th annual Sequim Lavender Festival, Friday-Sunday, July 16-18, is sponsored by the Sequim Lavender Growers Association.

The 14th annual Sequim Lavender Festival, Friday-Sunday, July 16-18, is sponsored by the Sequim Lavender Growers Association. It includes:

• Six farms will offer lavender activities and more than 150,000 plants, plus workshops, demonstrations and horticultural programs. Cooking demonstrations by local chefs will be at each farm Sunday. Tickets to the Farms on Tour cost $15; children 12 and under are free. Active military and their dependents receive a $5 discount.

Farms on Tour are open 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Friday-Sunday. Shuttle service between the street fair and each farm is free.

• The Street Fair offers lavender and lavender products. More than 150 arts and crafts people from throughout the Northwest will have booths. The stage offers live entertainment, the food court offers Northwest and international foods, and the wine and beer garden offers a shady spot to relax. The family area features children’s activities and local nonprofit organizations.

The Street Fair is open

9 a.m.-7 p.m., Friday and Saturday and 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.

• The festival closes with the annual Lavender Celebration Dinner Sunday night at John Wayne Marina.

Other community events during Lavender Festival include:

• Crème Tangerine playing Beatles music Saturday night at the outdoor amphitheater at the James Center for the Performing Arts. Salmon barbecue sandwiches will be available.

• The Sunbonnet Sue Quilt Show, Sequim Arts Studio Tour, North Olympic Peninsula Wine Tour, Puffin Sunset Dinner Cruise, Lavender Festival Golf Tournament and a bird walk at Railroad Bridge Park also are planned.

• Olympic Theatre Arts offers "Bullshot Crummond," a slapstick parody.

• The Jamestown S’Klallam Tribal Center offers Salmon and Stories by the Bay.

Many of these events are free or offer a discount to Farm Tour ticket holders.
