Shuttle Spindle Guild hosts free Creative Small Business Basics Workshop

For the Saturday, Sept. 1 North Olympic Shuttle & Spindle Guild monthly meeting, Renne Emiko Brock — an artist, educator and fiber arts advocate — presents a Creative Small Business Basics Workshop at noon at Sequim Community Church’s portable classrooms on 950 N. Fifth Ave.

The public is welcome and this workshop is free.

Brock will cover fundamentals of branding, marketing, creating an active online presence, business licensing and insurance, photographing art, digital storytelling and selling.

As the director of several creative arts events and Peninsula College faculty, she will also encourage opportunities to participation in community arts events like the First Friday Art Walk Sequim, North Olympic Fiber Arts Festival, and Innovative Arts and Crafts Fair, as well as multimedia communication courses to expand creative business skills and networking.

The North Olympic Shuttle & Spindle Guild shares learning and fellowship of the Fiber Arts through “show and tell” at monthly meetings, weaving study groups, workshops, programs, trips, educational exhibits and demonstrations to the community.

The guild meets from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Sequim Community Church’s portable classrooms. The public is welcome to the monthly meetings that start with guild business and “show and tell” followed by a snack break, then special fiber arts-related program at about noon.

Note: No meetings are scheduled in June, July, October and December because of special fiber events.

North Olympic Shuttle & Spindle Guild from Washington State’s North Olympic Peninsula area has nearly 50 active members. They include weavers, spinners, dyers, basket makers, felters, knitters, crocheters and many other fiber artists. Discover more online at nossg.org.
