Suicide prevention training set

Clallam County Health & Human Services is sponsoring two Suicide Assessment, Intervention, & Treatment training sessions set for Thursday, Sept. 20, and Friday, Sept. 21, both in Port Angeles.

Attendees will learn to recognize the warning signs of suicide, assess the safety challenges of suicide and suicidal behavior and effectively communicate with individuals in crisis. Each training will last seven hours, including a one-hour lunch break; lunch and beverages are provided.

This training is appropriate for social workers, mental health professionals, nurses, marriage and family therapists, naturopaths, osteopathic health professionals, physicians, physicians’ assistants and psychologists. Participants will be provided certificates for six continuing education units.

Twenty (20) spots will be available for each training. A $50 registration fee per participant is required. Once registration begins, spots will be filled on a first come first serve basis once payment and registration information is received.
