Veterans Corner: Marine Honor Guard is recruiting

I want to thank all who helped our local Coast Guard families and federal employees through the government shut down. What an outpouring of support by so many. Out on the peninsula we are isolated and truly need to help each other through the rough times. Thank you.

Join the Guard

The Mount Olympus Detachment 897 of the Marine Corps League has an honor guard that provides final military honors with a rifle salute and the playing of Taps at funerals. They also give honors at the bell ringing the last Friday of the month which recognizes all service members who have passed away the month before.

They are recruiting for honor guard members. You do not have to be a Marine to be a member of the Detachment or the Honor Guard. You can be an associate member if you were in any of the other U.S. armed services.

If you are interested, please contact Mark at marana-s@outlook.com or the commandant, Guy Iredale, at guy092248@hotmail.com.
