VHOCC grief group set

Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County announces a grief support group on Tuesdays from 2-3:30 p.m. — starting on Oct. 29 18 and running for six weeks through Dec. 3 (no meeting on July 2) — in the conference room at Hospice headquarters, 829 E. Eighth St., Port Angeles.

Astrid Raffinpeyloz, Volunteer Services Manager and Bereavement Coordinator for Volunteer Hospice, facilitates the group. Her goal for is to support participants in discovering their own strength and resilience in the face of loss and chaos.

Personal experiences generated Raffinpeyloz’s lifelong interest in end-of-life and grief stages, and, after completing a master’s degree in transpersonal psychology, led her to a career with hospice.

Though there is no charge, space is limited and participants must pre-register with the VHOCC office by calling 360-452-1511.

Since 1978 VHOCC has been providing free hospice services to patients and their families in Clallam County, from Diamond Point to Joyce. Part of VHOCC’s mission is to offer grief support groups, not only to families of hospice patients but to anyone in the community who has experienced the death of a loved one.

Grief support groups are scheduled throughout the calendar year, with the following group starting on Sept. 9 in Sequim.
