Parenting Matters, Cynthia Martin

The Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave., hosts a day of reading and an interactive show for children in honor of beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss on Saturday, March 3.

 

The event begins at 10 a.m. and winds up with a show at 2 p.m. by Port Townsend musical group Harmonica Pocket. (The show also is presented at 10:30 a.m. at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody.)

 

“Seuss on the Loose” is full of fun Dr. Seuss story-songs, zany instruments, hula hoops and chances for children to dance and sing along.

 

The Dr. Seuss read-a-thon is a free event to support literacy. Patrons of all ages are invited to stop in throughout the day to read fun books and have a snack. Community leaders also are encouraged to stop in and read a book to demonstrate to the youth in the community that anytime is a good time to read a good book.

 

The first 50 children get a Cat-in-the-Hat-inspired top hat. There is no preregistration, but refreshments and top hats are limited.
