Clallam County 4-H announces award winners for 2007-2008

Clallam County 4-H held its annual Achievement Day on Nov. 2 at the Sequim Elks Lodge. Masters of ceremonies were Molly Gort and Ruminta Carpenter. Members and leaders were presented year pins for completion of the 2007-2008 4-H year. Leaders' Council officers were announced: president, Judy Richmond; vice president, LaDona Wilson; treasurer, Gayle Taylor; secretary, Manon Heistand.

Scholarships went to Matthew Schuchardt, Lambchops; David Schuchardt, Lambchops; Stacey Waldrip, Energetic 4-Hers; Paul McCann, Energetic 4-Hers.

Winners of other awards were:

Alumni of the Year: Karalynn Adolphsen, Rascals 4-H Club

Leader of the Year: Laurie Davies, Sidekicks 4-H Club

Junior Leader of the Year: Marissa Wilson, Silver Spurs 4-H Club.

Teen Leader of the Year: Ruminta Carpenter, Pure Country 4-H Club.

Pat Boyes Demonstration for an outstanding demonstration given at county fair went to Molly Gort, Pure Country, and Alisa Lee, Neon Riders.

Elm Home Economics Trophy for junior and intermediate members: Jena Chamberlin, Energetic 4-Hers.

Alta Hoy Memorial for senior home economics: Jodi Chamberlin, Energetic 4-Hers

Janet Fry Outstanding 4-Her: Jodi Chamberlin, Energetic 4-Hers F. D.

Yeager Memorial for senior member: Jodi Chamberlin, Energetic 4-Hers

Andrew Kruiswyk Jr. Award for outstanding achievement for a 4-H boy: Paul McCann, Energetic 4-Hers

Livestock Achievement in the sheep, dairy, cow, swine programs: Amy Tucker, Lambchops 4-H Club.

Sheep Incentive Award for outstanding effort by a first- or second-year member: Johnny Hanson, Lambchops; Bayleigh Carpenter, Pure Country.

Horse Achievement for ability, leadership and record book: junior, Shianna Dankert, Silver Spurs; intermediate, Marissa Wilson, Silver Spurs.

Horse Incentive Award for outstanding effort by a first- or second-year member: Amanda Andrew, Silver Spurs.
