Celebrate St. Patrick's Day by sharing Luck o' the Irish

The car that ran the stoplight missed you by a whisker.

You found your lost

wallet with its cash and credit cards intact.

Having bet the rent money, you drew two pair and filled a full house.

We call it luck, this phenomenon of good fortune that we secretly know we didn't deserve but surely won't spurn.

Inhabitants of the Emerald Isle have it in such legendary quantities that it's called the Luck o' the Irish. And everybody's Irish come March 17, St. Patrick's Day.

The Sequim Gazette would like to help celebrate the occasion by sharing readers' tales of good luck in our March 11 edition.

If you remember a moment when you thanked your lucky stars - or perhaps good Padraic himself -- send it to us by March 4.

Please keep your stories brief -- 250 words or less - and send them to Luck o' the Irish, c/o Sequim Gazette, P.O. Box 1750, Sequim, WA 98382; or e-mail them to with Luck o' the Irish in the subject line.

Please include your name, place of residence (e.g., Sequim, Carlsborg,

Diamond Point) and a daytime telephone number.

We'll print the best and thank the rest for their contributions.

So with the road rising to meet you and the wind at your back, send us your stories of luck.

All entrants will receive Seamus Anraigh O'Cathasaigh's Foolproof Directions to the End of the Rainbow.
