Christina Pfeiffer will speak on "Great Small Trees - Selection and Year-round Calendar of Care" at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 14, at McComb Gardens, 751 McComb Road, Sequim.

She is an horticulture consultant, garden writer and instructor who has worked for the Washington Park Arboretum and the Holden Arboretum in Ohio. Her education is in urban horticulture; her degrees are from Michigan State University and the University of Washington. She is an ISA certified arborist and a member of the Washington Park Arboretum editorial board.

Vision Loss Center, a volunteer-run nonprofit corporation that provides information, training and supplies for those with vision loss, is at 228 W. First St., Suite N, Port Angeles, downstairs of Armory Square and next to the elevator.

Clinic owner Lynda G. Williamson, a registered and licensed occupational therapist, nationally certified hand therapist and certified ergonomics assessment specialist, is pursuing two Pilates certifications: STOTT Pilates and Body Arts and Science International. Both styles of Pilates are geared toward rehabilitation and sport-injury clients as well as the general population.

Williamson has added a Pilates reformer and tower to the clinic's gym.

She specializes in treatment of upper extremity injuries and disorders of the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand. She has worked in outpatient orthopedic rehabilitation for 20 years, serving the Olympic Peninsula since 1989.

Estes Builders' construction manager Mike Lyckman attended the land development workshop hosted in part by Built Green Clallam County.

Topics included environmentally sensitive site planning and practices for land development, which Lyckman used to create a new process for Estes Builders.

Prior to excavation, any plants that may be indicative of a wetland requiring special precautions will be noted so they may be dealt with appropriately.

Brenda Carpenter of Bridge Builders Ltd. successfully completed the University of Washington Guardian Certificate Program, a new 90-hour program for certified guardians and those who are interested in becoming a certified guardian.

The program is a requirement for anyone wishing to become a certified professional guardian and for certified professional guardians participating in the public guardianship program.
