Ready for a good story?
Trebon is active in The Story People of Clallam County as a member of the board and Forest Storytelling Festival director. The festival is an annual event held each year at Peninsula College. It draws storytellers from all over the United States as well as many international countries.
Trebon stresses that her class is not just for prospective storytellers. She taught a similar class for North Seattle Community College for more than six years and had students from all walks of life.
"I've had teachers, librarians, naturalists, attorneys, clergy members, architects, writers and corporate executives in my classes and workshops, as well as grandparents who just want to learn how to effectively tell stories about their own lives to their grandchildren. Ninety percent of the students take the class with no intention of performing but just want to polish or learn public speaking skills," she says.
Class size is limited. Cost for the class is $33. To register, call Peninsula College at 452-9277.
