Strait Occupational & Hand Therapy has kicked off its Helping Hands 2009 Food Drive, an annual, monthlong event to collect canned goods for Clallam County food banks.

Donations can be taken to Strait Occupational & Hand Therapy, 708 S. Race St., Suite C, Port Angeles. Hours are

8 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday; and 7:30 a.m.-noon Tuesday and Friday.

The drive is in conjunction with National Occupational Therapy Month, celebrated annually by clinic owner Lynda G. Williamson, a registered and licensed occupational therapist, nationally certified hand therapist and certified ergonomic assessment specialist.

The clinic specializes in upper extremity disorders and injuries. Call 417-0703.

An open house for MissFit Personal Training, LLC, at 127 E. First St., Suite 1W, Port Angeles, will be held from

9 a.m.-6 p.m. April 11.

Free samples of protein powder will be given away along with a chance to win a package of training sessions.

The Greenhouse Nursery, 81 S. Bagley Creek Road at U.S. Highway 101, has shifted to springtime hours.

The nursery is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sundays. Mason bees are available. Call 417-2664.

North Peninsula Building Association is offering a first aid/cardiopulmonary resuscitation class for those renewing their standard eight-hour card. The class is from 6-10 p.m. April 14-15 downstairs in Allen Hall at First Baptist Church, 105 W. Sixth St., Port Angeles. Port Angeles Fire Chief Dan McKeen teaches the class.

Members' cost for the refresher class only is $35; full eight-hour class, both days, is $40. Nonmembers' cost for refresher class is $50 and $60 for eight-hour class.

Those with cards that have not been expired more than 30 days need to take only the refresher class 6-10 p.m. April 14. If the card has been expired more than 30 days, participants must attend both days.
