First baccalaureate degrees highlight P.C. graduation

More than 330 Peninsula College graduates receive their degrees and certificates at graduation ceremonies set for 2 p.m. Saturday, June 13, in the college gymnasium, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.

Among those graduating are 14 who receive the first baccalaureate degrees awarded by Peninsula College. They are receiving Bachelor of Applied Science degrees in applied management.

One of this year's graduating class is Liam Maier, grandson of Peninsula College's founding president, the late E. John Maier, and his wife, Helen. Maier is receiving an associate degree in arts.

The keynote speaker at the college's 47th annual commencement ceremonies is Olympic National Park Superintendent Karen Gustin, speaking about "Leadership for the Future."

Tanya Knight of Port Angeles is the graduating student speaker. Knight is a member of Peninsula College's first baccalaureate graduating class. Her address is entitled, "From the Past into a Brilliant Future."

A reception follows the commencement ceremony.
