Holiday donations accepted

RainShadow Laundromat & Carwash, at 143 N. Seventh Ave., Sequim, accepts food donations and Christmas gifts during its first "Help us Help Others Holiday Project."

Food donations are accepted through the end of the year for local families in need for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

After Nov. 30, Christmas gifts are accepted for local foster teens.

Donors can pluck names from a Christmas tree at the laundromat for gifts or gift cards.

Donations can be dropped off any day of the week 7:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m. at RainShadow Laundromat & Carwash.

Costco soon to

accept food stamps

Costco will accept food stamps at all of its warehouse stores, possibly as soon as Thanksgiving.

Low-income households receiving food assistance through Washington's food stamp program, Basic Food, can use their electronic benefits transfer Quest card to purchase bulk groceries at any Costco store in Washington.

The benefits cannot be used to pay the store's annual $50 household membership fee.
