Jim Pemberton hired as interim Public Works Director

City of Sequim news release

Steve Burkett, Sequim City Manager, is pleased to announce that he has hired Jim Pemberton as the Interim Public Works Director. Jim will start with the city on Tuesday, December 8.

Jim comes to us with excellent public works management skills and experience. He has enjoyed a long and diverse career with the city of Anacortes.  He served the citizens of Anacortes in the Public Works Department for a total of 27 years, seven of which were as the Director of Public Works. He also served as Director of Engineering and Development Services, Assistant Public Works Director, and Public Works Maintenance Superintendent. He has broad experience in all facets of public works. He has developed excellent working relationships with the state Department of Ecology, the Washington State Department of Transportation and tribal leaders in the Skagit Valley. Jim has also served the cities of Mukilteo and Kenmore as interim Public Works Director.

Burkett said, “I am looking forward to working with Jim.  His experience and management style will be a great “fit” for the city while we search for a permanent Public Works Director. He will bring with him an understanding of the key issues facing the department and the city from a perspective of a similar-sized Washington city.”
