The Buzz coffee shop is reaching out to the coffee and soup for the soul crowd.

Owner Deb Ferguson has opened her fourth shop, The Buzz Rx, at 840 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim, inside Olympic Medical Center.

Her other coffee shops are The Buzz, 128 N. Sequim Ave., and Itty Bitty Buzz, 110 E. First St., Port Angeles. She also owns BeeDazzled, a boutique inside The Buzz.

Ferguson said she was not pursuing expanding the Buzz franchise, but OMC contacted her in June and she couldn’t pass up the opportunity.

“It’s a wonderful location and you don’t have to be sick or have an appointment to come in,” she said, “We’re just trying everything out and encouraging those that work and come to the facility to tell us what they want.”

The Buzz Rx offers full espresso from Caffe’ Vita, which Ferguson says was voted No. 1 coffee roaster in Seattle.

A full lunch menu is available with sandwiches, soups, quiche, pastries and deviled eggs from Oven Spoonful, which operates out of the Itty Bitty Buzz.

Ferguson said they’ve begun catering breakfasts and luncheons inside the facility and are looking to do more.

Sweets are available including Olympic Mountain Ice Cream from Shelton and Snoqualmie Ice Cream.

The Buzz Rx has two employees, who work part time. There are 10 employees among the four shops.

Michelle Pederson, barista at Buzz Rx, said she’s worked for the other Buzz shops for almost four years and enjoys the new atmosphere of the medical center and that people are friendly.

“I hear every single day how people at The Buzz feel comfortable, accepted and welcome when coming to us,” Ferguson said.

“It makes my heart swell.”

The Buzz Rx is open 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday and can be reached at 582-5585.
