Welcome Home Veterans Day

The Clallam County Veterans’ Center will observe Welcome Home Veterans Day from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, at 216 S. Francis St., Port Angeles.

The event echoes a proclamation by Gov. Chris Gregoire that the day — the 35th anniversary of United States’ withdrawal from Vietnam — be celebrated in honor of Vietnam veterans.
Welcome Home Veterans Day locally will include:

• An Avenue of Honor by the American Legion Post 29 Patriot Riders
• Welcome by Martin Arnold, commander Post 6787, Veterans of Foreign Wars
• A POW/MIA Table
• Acknowledgement by Norman Goodwin of VFW Post 1024
• Remarks by Col. Don Roberts, U.S. Army (Retired)
• Reading names of Clallam County killed in action
• A rifle salute by the Marine Corps League, Mount Olympus Chapter, Honor Guard
• Echo Taps
• Refreshments courtesy of Post 1024 Ladies Auxiliary
