Laura Dubois, Sequim mayor pro tem and Earth Day: Celebrating 40 Years chairwoman, sits in an IT, Innovative Transportation, electric car made in Canada. It goes about 30 mph and recharges for pennies a night.

Hundreds of other Sequim residents and visitors took on a global mindset for events Saturday, April 17, including activities at the Museum and Arts Center, Olympic Theatre Arts, Community Organic Gardens of Sequim and others. More than 600 people visited the main venue at the Sequim Boys & Girls Club that combined Earth Day exhibitors, local nonprofits, service agencies and Open Aire Market vendors.

The emphasis was on energy and water conservation and renewable energy.
