Friends host book sale

Friends of the Sequim Library holds its second Saturday book sale from 10 a.m.-

3 p.m. Saturday, July 10, at the building behind Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave. All items are half-price. Call 683-1161.

City review board positions open

The city of Sequim is seeking two citizens to fill positions on the volunteer Design Review Board.

This board meets at 5 p.m. on the second Wednesday each month. The board serves as a voluntary body to the city's planning department. Design review board applicants need to have qualifications, skills and/or interest in urban design or historic preservation and to be able to read and interpret site plans, elevation drawings, landscape plans, architectural and other design details.

Volunteers needed for festival tour

Volunteer shifts are available for Sequim Lavender Festival's farm tour and street fair on Friday-Sunday, July 16-18.

Volunteers sell farm tour tickets, distribute programs, help with hospitality, work on the production crew and assist at the Farms on Tour.

Training is at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, in the Sequim High School cafeteria, 601 N. Sequim Ave., Sequim.

Benefits include a free farm tour ticket and a festival T-shirt.

League of Women Voters officers elected

The League of Women Voters of Clallam County elected officers to serve for the coming year. Lou Templeton, of Port Angeles, is president; Kathy Langhoff, Sequim, vice president for logistics; Nancy Esteb, Sequim, secretary; Judith Parker, Sequim, vice president for organization; and Ida Fintel, Sequim, treasurer.

Any person of voting age, male or female, may become a league member.


Free health presentation

Camp Fire camp

Camp Fire USA Juan de Fuca Council has openings for its youth resident camp, Camp WoLoChee, Aug 1-6 at Camp David Jr.

Youth entering grades 3 - 8 in the fall of 2010 are eligible to attend.

Petco hosts reptile rally

Petco holds a reptile rally from 11 a.m.-

1 p.m. Saturday, July 17, at 1205 W. Washington St., Sequim. Events include reptile feeding time at 11 a.m.; a how-to seminar at 11:30 a.m.; a reptile "meet and greet" at noon and "Ask the Reptile Specialist" at 12:30 p.m. Call 582-9283.

Free home-buyer classes set

A free class for first-time home buyers begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 10, at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St., Port Angeles.

Participants receive a certificate of completion and can schedule a free one-on-one consultation.

Another class will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 24, at Jefferson County Library, 620 Cedar, Port Hadlock.

Applebee's fundraiser

Applebee's will donate 15 percent of food purchases between noon-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, at 130 River Road, Sequim.

Proceeds benefit Northwest Kiwanis Camp, a summer camp for children with medical and developmental disabilities.

Coupons are available from the Kiwanis Club or through the camp.

Bainbridge in Bloom

Bainbridge In Bloom is open to the public from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, July 10-11, at seven Bainbridge area gardens. A patron preview day is from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, July 9.

A lecture series with Ciscoe Morris, Butchart Garden's Rick Los and authors Langdon Cook and Dr. Linda Chalker-Scott is planned.

Prices are $35 for adults at the door, $10 for children under 12, $27 for Bike the Bloom and $65-$350 for Patron Day tickets.
