Sequim girl runs into car while crossing highway

At 2:45 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, Syndie Faias, 14, of Sequim struck the side of a car while crossing U.S. Hwy 101 at the Barr Road intersection.

She was let off at Barr Road after riding a Clallam County transit bus heading east.

Faias and a friend exited the bus and began to run north across the highway.

Sequim driver Madelaine Moir, 59, was traveling east when Faias ran into the side of her 2008 Hyundai Accent and broke off the side mirror.

Faias was transported to Olympic Medical Center with abdominal injuries and abrasions.

Moir was not injured and the car was driven from the scene.

Washington State Patrol reports the incident occurred because Faias failed to yield to the vehicle.

Charges are pending.
