One dead in collision near Hood Canal Bridge
UPDATE Aug. 17, 4:50 p.m. Washington State Patrol Trooper Krista Hedstrom said the motor home was driven by a male, who is not being identified pending notification of next of kin. The motor home crossed over the double yellow line in a curve while traveling westbound, when it crashed into the Lexus, she said.
He is believed to have been the only occupant of the motor home, she said.
The Lexus contained two teenage girls from King County and both were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center with critical injuries.
One person died this afternoon at the intersection of Highway 104 and Teal Lake Road near the Hood Canal Bridge.
State Patrol Trooper Krista Hedstrom said a 21-foot motor home collided with a Lexus and overturned about 2:47 this afternoon. Two people were injured and trapped inside one of the vehicles and were extracted by emergency responders.
At one point the motor home was on fire, Hedstrom said.
The motor home fully blocked Highway 104 for close to two hours. As of 4:10 p.m. tow trucks were en route to remove the wreckage, Hedstrom said.
