Music abounds at annual CrabFest

The 2010 Dungeness Crab & Seafood Festival, Oct. 8-10, presents a weekend full of music in the big tent in the Red Lion Hotel parking lot in Port Angeles.

Pearl Django presents two shows on Saturday, Oct. 9. Though still strongly influenced by the music of Django Reinhardt, Pearl Django's repertoire includes many original compositions.

Deadwood Revival, a local favorite for many years, performs from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday.

DWR string band creates honest "feel good" music filled with the spirit of old-time Appalachia, soulful American roots, jam-band improvisations and a whole lotta hootenanny.

Saturday and Sunday, Cort Armstrong brings country blues to the stage. Saturday features Armstrong him with Lawton Katz, a favorite in the Seattle area, and Sunday, Armstrong brings his band Jangle Bones to join him.

Sunday afternoon Watch the Sky! with Jan and Chris Glanister and Joe Wagner brings Celtic verve to traditional, contemporary and original ballads and pub songs.

Friday-night's community crab feed features the contemporary/Latin jazz groove of Tanga.

The festival is produced by Olympic Peninsula Celebrations, a Washington State nonprofit corporation, and the Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce. A portion of the proceeds goes to watershed education in the Dungeness River and Dungeness Bay habitats and other environmental educational organizations including the Feiro Marine Life Center.
