River Road asphalt work starts night of Nov. 8
Sequim Gazette staff
Fresh asphalt work on River Road is scheduled to begin 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8, and end 6 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11.
Clallam County is under contract with the City of Sequim to complete the project that includes asphalt grinding, pavement dig-outs and a complete surface overlay.
The traffic circle will be closed during most of the project in evening hours.
West bound traffic will be re-directed at Priest Road and eastbound traffic will be allowed through the dedicated right hand turn lane at the traffic circle.
Delays in both directions are anticipated.
Some businesses’ driveways might become inaccessible for up to an hour while asphalt cools.
Businesses are encouraged to schedule deliveries in non-construction hours or to use the Sequim Avenue exit on U.S. Hwy 101.
Flaggers will be on site to direct traffic.
Construction dates and paving schedules are sensitive to rain or cold weather.
“Above all else, we ask for your patience,” Pat McElroy, engineer for Clallam County, said.
“We will be trying to get done as quickly as possible but still provide a quality construction project.”
Sequim is funding the project through its Transportation Benefit District to improve the deteriorating pavement.
