• Sequim Schools is closed for spring vacation from March 28-April 1. Classes resume on April 4. The District Office is open during spring vacation from 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m., closed for lunch from noon-1 p.m. daily.
• An immunization clinic will be offered on Thursday, April 7, at all schools for required vaccines for school attendance. Parents need to fill out a consent form to send with their students on that day. Forms are available at each school office or can be printed off the district website at, under “Announcements.”

• On March 22, kindergarten-through-fourth-grade students took a field trip to the Dungeness Fish Hatchery, where they examined salmon eggs and released fish fry into the river as part of a science unit on the life cycle of salmon.

Third-grade students Emily Silva from Aaron Reno’s class and Miles Van Sant from Sheri Burke’s class are to be congratulated for being chosen to represent Greywolf Elementary as the Irrigation Festival Junior Royalty King and Queen. Students were chosen based on essays they wrote about why they like Sequim.

Student science and engineering research projects from Debra Beckett’s SETI class (Science and Engineering Teams Investigation) were showcased on March 22. Parents and school tour members were invited to view the exhibits and ask the students questions about their projects. Four students from that class will be taking their projects to the Science Fair in Bremerton on April 1-2.

First Teacher room activities:
Friday, April 1 at 10 a.m.-noon — New Parent & Expectant Parent Tea. New and expectant parents come relax and hear about helpful community resources.
Monday, April 4 — Reading Time with Gentle Paws handlers and therapy dogs. Each child attending will receive a free book to take home.

For students in grades 6-12 entering the Sequim Education Student Film Festival, completed video entries, along with entry and release forms, must be received at the Sequim School District Office by close of business (4:30 p.m.) on Monday, April 4.
The Film Festival will be held in the Sequim High School Performing Arts Building at 7 p.m. Friday, April 15.
