Players with the Clallam County Orcas performed well at a softball and golf tournament July 30-31.

On Saturday, July 30, the Orcas softball team played three games in Tacoma. They won the first two and lost the third to the defending state champions. The team won the silver medal a year after playing in the tee ball division in 2010. Player Michael Rudolph pitched for the team and it was his first experience as pitcher. Jan Isett and Fred Petty coached the team.

On Sunday, Orcas golfers played in the regional golf tournament at Meadow Park Golf Course in Tacoma. Bonny Cates received a bronze medal for her efforts in the Individual Skills Competition. Five teams competed in the nine-hole competition. Ursula Schletter with her partner Matt Eveland received bronze; Michael Reif and Grant Smithson won a silver, and the gold medalists are David Carver with Bill Shea; Amanda Forbes with Garet Smithson; and Kimberly Wing with Mike Johnson.

Gold winners head to the Summer Sports Classic at the State Competition later this month.
